Jolene Carlson

Ordained to Word and Sacrament in the ECC, Jolene Bergstrom Carlson’s life passion is a desire to experience and live out Micah 6: 8, “This is what Yahweh asks of you: only this: to act justly, to love tenderly and to walk humbly with your God.”

 

Jolene began her professional journey teaching communication and theatre at community colleges in the 1960s, where she supported the development of racial reconciliation and gender equality. While raising her three children, she became a parent educator, developing resources and training leaders to facilitate church, school and community support groups.
At midlife Jolene experienced a call to ministry. She studied at Bethany Seminary, Lutheran School of Theology and North Park Theological Seminary, Later she received her Spiritual Direction training from the Institute of Spiritual Companionship
Jolene has served in senior, associate, and interim pastoral positions, middle judicatory leadership, as an Executive Director of a pastoral mentoring non-for-profit organization.
Jolene currently loves serving as a spiritual director continuing to live out Micah 6:8 by walking humbly and loving tenderly those seeking companionship with the Holy One. Her personal delight is sharing stories about her late husband, Richard, and grandson, Jake. and spending time with her adult children and five grandchildren.
