Reel Life – 1946:The Mistranslation that Shifted a Culture

March 9, 2025 @ 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm EDT

Journey Center of Michigan is partnering with Royal Oak First United Methodist Church to host a viewing and contemplative discussion of the documentary 1946:The Mistranslation that Shifted a Culture. Join us at ROFUM on Sunday, March 9th, from 1:00-4:00 pm EST as we consider and hold this very important topic together.

1946:The Mistranslation that Shifted a Culture is a featured documentary that follows the story of tireless researchers who trace the origins of the anti-gay movement among Christians to a grave mistranslation the Bible in 1946. It chronicles the discovery of never-before-seen archives at Yale University which unveil astonishing new revelations, and casts significant doubt on any biblical basis for LGBTQIA+ prejudice. Featuring commentary from predominant scholars a swell as opposing pastors, including the personal stories of the film’s creators, 1946 is at once challenging, enlightening, and inspiring.

Please note that it is imperative that this gathering is held with an atmosphere of respect, civility, love, and open-hearted sharing and listening to one another. Debates are to be left outside the doors.

We hope you are able to join us.
