As a community, we are on the cusp of celebrating two years of being! Being live online. Being a growing community. Being in existence and accompanying each another as the Holy invites us into healing and growth. Hooray! Let’s celebrate that birth and life! Thanks be to God.
This God-infused life has continued to mature and grow in our two years of being. Our work toward being a safe place to welcome all on their spiritual journey has only strengthened, and people are finding home here. Our commitment to bring the contemplative way of living to others is happening, offering weekly meditations, online retreats, in person gatherings of encounter, and collectively sharing the journey of life with one another, and the Holy. As a community, we are following our Creator’s lead around the areas of building a welcoming community, lament, radical love, racial righteousness, and God’s wide embrace.
In this literal season of spring, much like creation that we encounter all around us, there is potential emerging new life in the coming months for Journey Center of Michigan. I hope to be able to say more soon, allowing the sunshine of our shared light to help fertilize and cultivate this emerging life together. Stay tuned.
In the meantime, I ask you to join me in taking regular Parable walks… intentionally look for and notice places of emerging life in your immediate surroundings by taking a slow walk with the Holy, prayerfully taking in your surroundings. Start by asking the Spirit to teach you along the way. When something catches your particular attention, stop and ask the Holy if they have something for you in that emerging life. Stay there as long as you sense the Spirit’s still small voice in it. Journal; have a conversation with the Holy; or simply take in what you are sensing. Spend as much time as you need there. And when you feel ready to move on, do so. You may want to continue the conversation or journaling later. Let the Spirit’s movement deepen as you listen. Perhaps even respond with an artistic expression of some sort. Whatever naturally emerges, go with it.
